Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System

About

Welcome to the San Francisco Regional Water System Data Viewer. This is the BETA version of the Data Viewer.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission provides high-quality drinking water to 2.6 million residents and businesses across Southern Alameda, Northern Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco counties. The Regional Water System delivers a reliable supply of water during all seasons and through periods of water surplus and drought, while also providing green hydroelectric and solar power to our municipal departments. The SFPUC Regional Water System is comprised of the Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System and the Local Water System.

The Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System is an efficient, clean public asset which plays a key role in water delivery in the state of California. Hetch Hetchy water originates in the 652-square mile Tuolumne River basin located in and near Yosemite National Park. The Local Water System is comprised of two watershed areas: the 47-square mile watershed located in the Alameda Creek basin, and the 36-square mile watershed area located on the San Francisco Peninsula, which have served water to San Francisco for 150 years.
