SFPUC and PODER Partner on the Sol2Sol Workshops at Hummingbird Farm
Posted Date: 9/7/2018 9:00 AM
San Francisco, CA-- The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) and People Organizing to Demand Environmental and Economic Justice (PODER) are partnering on a series of urban agriculture workshops at Hummingbird Farm on Sunday, September 9 as part of the Solidarity to Solutions (Sol2Sol) Summit.

Facilitated by the Climate Justice Alliance, the Sol2Sol Summit will run September 8 - 14, paralleling with the Global Action Climate Summit to explore climate solutions at the intersection of community, racial justice and alternative economics. Open to the public and led by PODER, workshops include native habitat restoration, queer ecology, medicine making and carbon sequestration on public lands. Attendees will also have the opportunity to help complete a 40-foot mobile mural illustrating community solutions to gentrification.

Located on six acres of SFPUC land, Hummingbird Farm provides the Excelsior neighborhood with fresh, organic produce each season. It also serves as a community hub where residents of all ages learn about local habitats, garden together, and discuss community-oriented solutions to addressing climate change and other environmental concerns. The farm reflects the SFPUC’s efforts to support innovative uses of its land to enrich the quality of life for local communities.
