Wastewater Treatment Plant Tours

Have you ever wondered what happens to the dirty water from your shower, bath, laundry and toilet after it goes down the drain? What about the runoff from lawns and gardens, and rainwater and car washing? The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) invites you to take a tour of one of our Wastewater Treatment Plants to find out how we get dirty water clean again!

SFPUC plant tours concentrate on the complex treatment processes involved with getting wastewater clean enough to put back into the San Francisco Bay or Pacific Ocean. You will have an opportunity firsthand to observe science and technology in action, while getting answers to questions you may have.
