Our Water Curriculum
Aligned with CA State Standards
On February 6, 2013, the SFPUC welcomed more than 40 San Francisco 4-6th grade teachers to our new headquarters
for the very first ‘Our Water’ Teacher workshop. This interactive workshop lead teachers through the Our Water
curriculum unit that introduces students to water use during the Gold Rush days, the Hetch Hetchy Water System, the water cycle, water conservation, and the many uses of water throughout California. Developed by the SFPUC and filled with user friendly fact sheets, lesson plans and fun activity sheets, this unique unit is a great teaching resource.
The event proved to form new partnerships between agency staff and San Francisco teachers, who both share a mutual goal of educating students on protecting water resources and local water supply issues. Workshop participants received the Our Water unit and were also provided with gift cards for materials and supplies to help implement the lesson plans in the classroom. Based upon extremely positive feedback, teachers valued the workshop and we hope to sponsor similar events in the near future.
