UPDATE as of 6pm: Break in 12-inch Water Main on Monticello St at 19th Avenue
MUNI Service Restored for Evening Commute
San Francisco, CA – At approximately 1:30 p.m. today, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission crews were called out to a break in a 12-inch water main on Monticello Street at 19th Avenue. The pipe is cast iron and dates back to 1935.
19th Avenue is now reopened between Randolph and Sargent. Monticello between 19th and Sargent will remain closed during repair work.
The ruptured main sent water and debris over the Muni track, which temporarily interrupted the Muni M Line service in this area. Service was restored at approximately 5:45pm.
Water service in the area was restored by approximately 3pm. A few isolated customers along 19th Avenue remain without water until repairs are complete. Two homes experienced water intrusion into their garages.
Repairs to the water main on Monticello are expected to be completed by approximately 10pm.
