Free Water-Saving Devices for Residents

The SFPUC Water Conservation Section offers all its customers free water-saving devices, while supplies last. These water-saving devices are simple to install and, while they are small in size, can lead to significant water savings. Together, installing one faucet aerator and one efficient showerhead can result in an average of 9,000 gallons per year in savings. 

To receive free devices, schedule a FREE Water-Wise Evaluation by calling the Water Conservation Section at (415) 551-4730. 

Residential Properties can also pick up select devices at the SFPUC Customer Service Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday at 525 Golden Gate, 1st Floor, San Francisco, CA 94102. Any customer picking up free devices at the customer service counter is required to bring a copy of their water bill for verification or proof of San Francisco residency.

Single-family homes and multi-family properties with 10 and less dwelling units are limited to one of each device per unit from the SFPUC Customer Customer Service Center:
  • Two showerheads
  • Three bathroom aerators
  • One kitchen aerator
  • Two toilet flappers
  • Two Dye tablet Packets
Multi-family residential properties OVER 10 dwelling units and commercial properties: 
Devices are not available for pick up from the Customer Service Center. Please schedule a Water-Wise evaluation with the Water Conservation Section in order to receive devices by calling (415) 551-4730.

The filling mechanism in your toilet is a valve that will fail and stop working properly over time. If a toilet our technicians find leaking and can be replaced with this standard valve, we’ll provide one for you to replace on the spot.
